Christ, the Mystery of God

“That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.” (Col. 2:2-3)

The all-inclusive Christ is the mystery of God. As the mystery of God, the all-inclusive, extensive Christ is the definition, explanation, and expression of God—the Word of God. The all-inclusive, extensive Christ—the mystery of God, the mysterious story of God—is the history of God.

As believers in Christ, we are made full in Christ, in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily. Because all the fullness dwells in Christ and because we have been put into Him, we have been made full, filled with the divine riches. Because we are one with Christ, we partake of all that He has accomplished, obtained, and attained; we inherit all that Christ has experienced and passed through, receiving all that He is and has. All that He has passed through is now our history, and all that He has obtained and attained is our inheritance. The result is that all that He is and all that He has belong to us, and all that He has experienced has become our history.

Because this fullness is all-inclusive, it accomplishes everything for us, it fully satisfies and supplies us, and it makes us full, perfect, and complete. We have the all-inclusive, inexhaustible fullness that dwells in Christ bodily, and in Him we are made full. (Experiencing, Enjoying, and Expressing Christ (3), msg. 4, V, C, 2, VII, B, 3-5, D-E)

Pray that all the saints would enter into the practical experience of being made full in Him day by day!

Bearing Fruit and Begetting Spiritual Children

To bear fruit is to beget children. Every fruit you bear is a child you have begotten. In 1 Corinthians 4:15 Paul says, “Though you have ten thousand guides in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” Paul called Timothy his “genuine child in faith” (1 Tim. 1:2) and Titus his “genuine child according to the common faith” (Titus 1:4). The New Testament does not give the names of the children of the apostles, but the Holy Spirit purposely identifies two of Paul’s children in the faith. Paul had a family of at least two children, Timothy and Titus. God does not care as much for our physical children as He does for our spiritual children. (CWWL, 1975-1976, vol. 3, “Young People’s Training,” ch. 4, p. 354)

When the Lord returns, all the believers as His servants will have to give an account to Him. If we have not borne fruit, we will be condemned by the Lord as slothful and evil slaves and be cast into outer darkness for a thousand years. Since the Lord will return and ask us to give Him an account, we should not feel at peace to die without having brought forth spiritual children. (CWWL, 1993, vol. 1, “Southern California Elders’ and Co-workers’ Meetings,” ch. 19, p. 278)

We need to make a vow to the Lord to go out to preach the gospel to sinners in order to beget them as spiritual children so that we may care for them by feeding them with the riches of Christ week after week. If we do not contact people to preach the gospel, we will not have any spiritual children under our care. (CWWL, 1990, vol. 1, “Bearing Remaining Fruit for the Lord’s Pleasure,” ch. 2, p. 87)

Pray that the saints would become burdened to bear fruit and would rise up to preach the gospel in order to beget spiritual children.

LA Korean Festival

The 52nd LA Korean Festival will be held at Seoul International Park this week, October 16 to 19. The saints will be out in the streets of Koreatown from Thursday, October 16 to Saturday, October 18, setting up tables to preach the gospel and distribute Recovery Version NTs. On Saturday, we will host a Bible seminar.

Please pray:

  • For the most suitable location for distribution without any obstructions.
  • For our gospel table to be filled with joyful volunteers serving together in one accord.
  • For the Lord to call and meet the sons of peace He has prepared and who are seeking the church.
  • For the Lord to open the hearts of our contacts and acquaintances as we invite them to the seminar.

Bibles for America

In the month of September, we received over 22,000 Bible orders, a 59% increase over August. We are working to package and ship them out in a timely way—more days of labor have been added at our distribution center and a new labeling machine has helped to speed up our process and output capacity.

Please pray for an increased supply of grace and wisdom to carry out this labor. Pray also for the Bible recipients, that they would read, pray, and enjoy the Lord in His Word. An encouraging comment left on Facebook read, “I just ordered mine. I have never had a Bible and this is a new path for me, but in the wake of recent events I feel I am being pulled in a new direction.”

Pasadena Meeting Hall

The church in Pasadena is in the process of purchasing a property for their meeting place; they expect to close escrow in mid-November. The city has already granted a conditional use permit for the property to be used as a meeting hall, and a public hearing with neighbors has been scheduled for November 5; such a hearing is standard practice for the city to grant full permission and access to the property.

Please pray that there will be no objections from the community to have a place of worship among them. May many neighbors even be added to the church!

The total funds needed for purchase and renovations is $2.2 million. The remaining amount still needed to close escrow by next month is $742,705. As the Lord leads, saints in LA may participate in giving through the Church in Los Angeles designated for “Pasadena Meeting Hall.” May the Lord bless all the churches and the saints through the oneness and one accord in His Body.

Germany – October Gospel Trips

The gospel teams in Germany continue their outreach in various cities until the end of this week. Their main goal is to reach students, especially freshmen, at the beginning of the university year, and establish personal contacts. Since last week, hundreds of people have received NTs and some have given their contact information. Please continue to pray:

  • For more local saints to join the visiting saints to be blended together and be brought into the gospel atmosphere and burden.
  • For many Germans to receive, read, and be inwardly stirred by the Spirit through the word.
  • For many to receive the Lord as their Savior, and some gospel and Bible recipients to have continuing fellowship with the churches in Germany.
