Psalm 72: Christ Recovering the Earth by Watering

“He will drop like rain upon mown grass.” (Psalm 72:6)
“And He will have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River unto the ends of the earth.” (Psalm 72:8)

Psalm 72 reveals the reigning Christ recovering the earth by watering.  The whole earth is a dry and barren wilderness, and many evil things spring forth from this drought and dryness. The Lord Jesus will be the King, not merely by exercising power to subdue others but mainly by supplying living water to satisfy the thirsty ones (Rev. 22:17).

  1. I was really impressed that the way Christ recovers the earth is by watering, which implies that we drink of Him and come under His throne. After watching the video, I feel that I need to spend some time everyday praying over the verses mentioned, specifically Psalm 72:6 and Revelation 22:1. May the Lord continue to regain the earth, starting with us each morning!

  2. Wow, what is shown here in Psalm 72 really blows some of my concepts of God’s desire. Many times we just think of God in the heavens, but it was neat to see from so many verses in Psa. 72 that God’s desire is for the earth! “And may His glory fill the whole earth” (v. 19)! I was also very impressed that the way God gains the “dominion unto the ends of the earth” is definitely through righteousness and justice, but it’s also through watering, as seen in verse 6. I’m encouraged to open to Christ (the living water) more, to let Him “water” me, drop by drop, drip by drip, so that He can reign in me more and gain His dominion on the earth!
