Psalm 23: The Organic Shepherding of the Pneumatic Christ

“Jehovah is my Shepherd; I will lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1)

Psalm 23 concerns Christ as the Shepherd in His resurrection.  The resurrected Christ is the Shepherd (Heb. 13:20) and the church produced by Christ’s resurrection is His flock (1 Pet. 5:2). Under His all-inclusive, tender care, “I will lack nothing.”

  1. He is with us! How good it is to know that through all the “valleys” of our human life, the Lord is with us! I especially enjoyed that all the experiences through which we are shepherded by the Lord is eventually for the house. Not only do these experiences usher us into the church, the house of God, but this is the place where we enjoy the sweet care of our Shepherd Christ! “I will dwell in the house of Jehovah for the length of my days”!

  2. It’s so amazing to me that the Lord shepherds us in the midst of our adversaries, and the way those adversaries are defeated is by FEASTING on the Lord! What a table of divine and spiritual riches that the Lord spreads before us. All we need to do is open up our being and take Him in. And this feasting is not a “dinner for one”; rather, we are feasting-and-defeating together with all the brothers and sisters.
