Serving a living and true God

1 Thessalonians 1:9

A Brief History

Christians began meeting as the church in Los Angeles in 1962. Since then, the church has been a spiritual home for thousands of believers and has been instrumental in gospel preaching and church planting efforts throughout North America and abroad.

In 2012-2013 we are celebrating our Jubilee anniversary (50th year — Lev. 25:10Leviticus 25:10 And you shall sanctify the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.; Luke 4:18-19Luke 4:18-19
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to announce the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away in release those who are oppressed,
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of jubilee.”
). As befitting the Jubilee, the church is presently renewing its commitment to prayer and outreach by announcing the gospel and supporting the planting of churches in Santa Barbara, California and other locales.

Meeting Places

Our emphasis is to have a church living where each member is built into a vital, spiritual community characterized by love for Christ and one another (John 15:9John 15:9
As the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
). We primarily meet in homes and small gatherings throughout the week for prayer, fellowship, and to study the Bible (Acts 2:46‑47Acts 2:46-47
46 And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with exultation and simplicity of heart,
47 Praising God and having grace with all the people. And the Lord added together day by day those who were being saved.
).

On Sundays we gather in larger groups mainly in the San Fernando Valley, West Los Angeles, and Downtown areas of Los Angeles for worship and ministry (1 Cor. 11:23‑261 Cor. 11:23-26
23 For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread,
24 And having given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is given for you; this do unto the remembrance of Me.
25 Similarly also the cup after they had dined, saying, This cup is the new covenant established in My blood; this do, as often as you drink it, unto the remembrance of Me.
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you declare the Lord's death until He comes.
; 14:23‑261 Cor. 14:23-26
23 If therefore the whole church comes together in one place, and all speak in tongues, and some unlearned in tongues or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are insane?
24 But if all prophesy and some unbeliever or unlearned person enters, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all;
25 The secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that indeed God is among you.
26 What then, brothers? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.
). We conduct our gatherings in English, Spanish, Korean and Chinese. Locations…
